A letter to EUIPO

(Update:  I am going to close the signing tomorrow, March 31.  As of Monday March 30th, the letter has sixty-two signers.  The signers come from North America, from Europe, from South America, from Asia, and from Australia.   The list of signers includes many experienced practitioners in the design world whose names you would recognize instantly.  I also signed!)

Hello fellow design practitioners and design owners. As you know, the EUIPO has not yet joined the WIPO DAS system and has not said that it will join the DAS system any time soon. This letter requests that EUIPO join the DAS system. One way that this would be helpful is in the case where the owner of a design wishes to file a design patent application in the USPTO claiming priority from a design application previously filed in the EUIPO. This letter will be sent to EUIPO on around April 1, 2020, so if you wish to sign, please do so right away and in any event no later than March 31, 2020.
