Here are some of the things that patent practitioners have said about USPTO’s DOCX e-filing initiative:
-
- Silvia Salvadori, PC — “In my opinion (and in the opinion of many other practitioners) the best way to proceed is to continue to file all the applications in PDF format, paying the surcharge of $400. It would be much more expensive to correct a patent with error in chemical or mathematical formulas.”
- Panitch Schwarze — “Our present recommendation is to file applications in PDF format, with the surcharge, because we anticipate that, at least initially, the time spent reviewing DOCX filings will likely exceed the PDF surcharge, particularly for micro entities and small entities.”
