Join the new Patentcenter listserv

Are you using Patentcenter?  Are you planning to use Patentcenter now that it is open for all filers (blog article)?  If you have not already done so, you should join the Patentcenter listserv.  This is an email discussion group for users of USPTO’s Patentcenter system.  To join the listserv, click here

Patentcenter is the new system that USPTO is developing that will some day replace EFS-Web and Private PAIR.  In other words, eventually EFS-Web will get shut down and the only way you will be able to do patent e-filing will be through Patentcenter.  And eventually Private PAIR will get shut down and the only way you will be able to see your pending patent applications will be through Patentcenter.

Right now Patentcenter is in beta test.  If you are smart, you will join the beta testers of Patentcenter.  This is a smart thing for you to do because you might identify things that need to be fixed or improved in the beta-test version of Patentcenter.  This might make your life less miserable when the USPTO shuts down EFS-Web and Private PAIR.

The listserv will permit beta testers to compare notes and share bugs and findings.  If you are going to use Patentcenter as a beta tester, it will be smart for you to join the listserv.  You are not required to post messages on the listserv.  You can simply “lurk”.  You might find that someone else identifies some problem, and finds a workaround,  This might save you some time and trouble in your own efforts to make use of Patentcenter.
