(Corrected with two corrections prompted by alert reader Ken Boone. The starting number was 6741505, not 6741504. Thus the count of issued registrations was 7477, not 7478. Thank you, Ken.)
Today, May 31, 2022, a second round of US trademarks got registered under the new “electronic certificate” program.
The lowest US trademark registration number handed out today was 6741505. The highest US trademark registration number handed out today was 6748981. So it looks like the Trademark Office issued 7477 US trademark registrations today. That number is roughly consistent with the numbers from a few weeks ago, before the big SNAFU on May 10, 2022.
The electronic registration certificates all seem to be present in TSDR right now at 5:41 AM Eastern Time.
The certificate for the lowest registration number got cryptographically signed on May 20, 2022 at 4:32 AM. The certificate for the highest registration number got cryptographically signed on May 27, 2022 at 8:02 AM.
>> … “The lowest US trademark registration number handed out today was 6741504.”
By my quick check, 6741504 is the highest registration number issued 24 May 2022, not the lowest US trademark registration number for 31 May 2022.
US Serial Number: 97227913 Appl. Filing Date: Jan. 19, 2022
US Registration Number: 6741504 Registration Date: May 24, 2022
The lowest registration number for 31 May 2022 appears to be 6741505, the next sequential registration number.
US Serial Number: 79174864 Appl. Filing Date: Apr. 21, 2015
US Registration Number: 6741505 Registration Date: May 31, 2022
That reduces the number of registrations issued 31 May 2022 to 7477, assuming no registration numbers for the range 6741505 to 6748981 were skipped.
Two other oddities revealed on TESS today, namely two divisional registrations with registration numbers higher than the last registration number noticed for 31 May 2022.
SN RN FD RD Word Mark

No, neither of those newly added registration numbers have registration certificates. I just find it odd that “future” registration numbers are sometimes grabbed for new divisional registrations and will be curious to see if new registration certificates appear for these two divisional registrations when new registration certificates catch up with those “future” registration numbers.
Thank you Ken. Thanks to you, I made the two corrections in the article.
Among the 7477 registrations for 31 May 2022, at least two word mark entries are blemished.
For registration 6741717 (serial number 79314792, a Madrid filing), the word mark entry is
BVLGARI MA?MAGNIFICA
but the drawing and raw application show BVLGARI MA’MAGNIFICA, where the ’ is the right single quote mark standard character with decimal value 146.
For registration 6743389 (serial number 90715276), the word mark entry is
LOS HIJOS DE LA MA?ANA
but the drawing and raw application (and translation statement) show
LOS HIJOS DE LA MAÑANA
These are USPTO processing errors.
I currently see over 300 live word mark entries with at least one question mark appearing for a valid standard character.
