Today is the day! The Madrid Protocol enters into force today with respect to Canada.
Canada thus achieves the trifecta, having joined the PCT on January 2, 1990 and and having joined the Hague Agreement on November 5, 2018.
The two-letter code for Canada is “CA”.
Starting from today, a trademark owner in Canada can file a Madrid Protocol application to pursue protection in one or more Offices outside of Canada. And starting from today, a trademark owner outside of Canada can file a Subsequent Designation to Canada (or can file a new Madrid Protocol application designating Canada).
