Sign up for tomorrow’s EPO webinar on PCT

(Update:  the webinar took place and I have written an article about it.)

Well, folks, maybe you knew about this imminent webinar a long time ago, but somehow I only learned about it today.  You know how you hate it that EPO only sends ISR/WOs out by postal mail?  Not electronically?  Well, I gather EPO intends to drag itself into the previous decade and plans to provide some electronic way to receive your ISR/WOs.

Yes, an extremely important webinar will take place about 24 hours from now.  Yes, I am giving you a mere 24 hours’ advance notice on this one.  Sorry about that.

Here is the description from the EPO web site:

Receiving PCT communications electronically from the EPO
Online seminar

  • US: 12.00pm – 1.00pm Central Standard Time (CST)  [I think they made a mistake on this!]
  • EU: 18.00 – 19.00 Central European Time (CET)

For US international agents and docketing experts we are offering a 1 hour online seminar on [Tuesday, tomorrow!] November 22nd dedicated to the EPO’s Mailbox (PCT Link).

International agents and non-European applicants in the international phase of the PCT will be able to receive EPO communications online delivered to their EPO Mailbox from November 2022 onwards. All communications from the EPO in the international phase where it acts as [ISA] or IPEA [or SISA] will be covered.

This seminar is an opportunity to find out more about this new service provided by the European Patent Office (EPO).

    • PCT Mailbox introduction
    • Online demonstration of how to set up the Mailbox including new PCT Link functionality
    • Receiving and processing electronic communications
    • Q&A

Everybody who files PCT applications and who sometimes picks ISA/EP will want to sign up for and attend this webinar.  Did I mention that it will take place a mere 24 hours from now?

The alert reader will appreciate that 6PM Munich Time is not the same thing as noon Central Time in the US.  I think they made a mistake on this in their announcement.

I think the true starting time for the webinar is as follows:

  • Pacific Time – 9AM
  • Mountain Time – 10 AM
  • Central Time – 11AM
  • Eastern Time – noon

Did you know about this webinar a long time ago?  If so, please post a comment below.

I have signed up and I will attend.  Have you signed up?  Will you attend?  Please post a comment below.

I agree with your comments about the proper times. I had not heard about this webinar but did sign up and pleased that electronic communication is being set up.

  2. I signed up for the seminar, but was unable to attend. Do you know if a recording of the webinar will be available?

    1. Thank you for commenting. No, the webinar did not get recorded. I plan to do a bit of a writeup in my blog, based on my notes.
