Georgia patent office joins the DAS system

This is a busy week for good news about participation in the DAS system.  The Georgia patent office, whose formal name in English is the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, has joined the DAS system.

You can see a detailed announcement here on the web site of the DAS system.  The Georgia patent office will, from April 1, 2019, be a Depositing Office for industrial design applications, patent applications, and utility model applications.  (Yes this serves as a reminder that Georgia is one of the countries where utility model protection is available.)  Importantly, its participation as a Depositing Office will not only be for patent applications filed as national applications but also for applications filed in RO/GE.   And from April 1, 2019 the Georgia patent office will likewise be an Accessing Office for industrial design applications, patent applications, and utility model applications.
